Musical recitation of hymns, mantras and the praise of
deities has ancient roots in Hinduism, as evidenced by the Samaveda and other
Vedic literature.
Kirtan is one of the fundamental practices of Bhakti
Yoga—the yoga of grace, love and devotion.
Bhakti Yoga offers an entirely different approach. In
Bhakti, it is understood that no amount of skill, effort or achievement is,
ultimately, sufficient to earn the favor of the Divine. We cannot compel God’s
grace by our efforts, no matter how impressive our human accomplishments. In
the end, Grace flows outside the realm of effort and austerity. Divine grace
is, by definition, not something we can earn or deserve through our own work.
It comes at a time and place, and in a manner, that is not ours to command
through our sweat and effort, or through the number of hours we have spent in
meditation.
According to the devotional tradition of Bhakti, God is most
pleased by our humility, by our devotion.
Humility and devotion spring from the heart. They are not
developed as a result of skills acquisition, hours of meditation, or the
ability to stand on our head for an hour. Grace and awareness don’t come
because we repeat a mantra a million times: all we need to do is sing it!
The simple idea behind kirtan was to sing praise to the
divine in its many forms.
The word kirtan, or kirtana, means ‘telling, narrating,
enumerating or describing’ and originates from the Vedic period, where it was
first written as anukirtana or anukriti, meaning a ‘re-telling’. These
anukirtanas would re-tell the ancient vedic hymns and passages. As was the way
with the ancient world, everything was transmitted orally via spoken Sanskrit
until the Vedas (knowledge) were written down by sages and scholars. The root
word kirt, can be found in these ancient Vedic texts and is also known to go by
the name sankirtana, meaning ‘collective performance’. Kirtan is an important
aspect of yoga and one which holds so much potential for awakening and
transformation.
The ‘language of the divine’
The ancient Sanskrit language is both mathematical and
vibrational, meaning each letter, syllable and word has a specific meaning and
effect when it is sounded out loud. Often noted as a religious and ceremonial
language, Sanskrit is also revered as the ‘language of the divine’. Considered
the ‘perfect language’, the correct pronunciation of each word is said to
create a vibration throughout the universe that makes contact with the
subconscious mind and the world around us.
Kirtans were popularized by the Bhakti movement of medieval
era Hinduism, starting with the South Indian Alvars (Vaishnavism) and Nayanars
(Shaivism) around the 6th century, which spread in central, northern, western
and eastern India
particularly after the 12th century, as a social and congregational response to
Hindu-Muslim conflicts.
The foundations of the kirtan traditions are also found in
other Hindu scriptures such as the Bhagavad-gita where Krishna describes bhakti
marga (path of loving devotion to god) as a means to moksha, alongside karma
marga (path of action) and jnana marga (path of knowledge). References to
kirtan as a musical recitation are also found in the Bhagavata Purana, an
important Vaishnava text.
Kirtan is often practiced as a kind of theatrical folk song
with call-and-response chanting or antiphon. The ancient sage Narada revered as
a musical genius, is called a kirtankar in the Padma Purana.
The famous story of
Prahlada in the Avatara Katha mentions kirtan as one of nine forms of worship, called
the nava vidha bhakti along with shravanam (listening), smaranam (remembrance),
pada sevanam (service), archanam (offering), vandanam (obeisance), dasyam
(servitude), sakhyam (friendship) and atmanivedanam (surrender). The so-called
Naradiya Kirtan divides kirtan into five parts: naman (prayers), purvaranga
(spiritual lesson based on old epics), chanting, katha or akhyan (exegesis),
and a final prayer for universal welfare.
Kirtan (Sanskrit: कीर्तन) has Vedic roots and it is
"telling, narrating, describing, enumerating, reporting".The term is
found as Anukirtan (or Anukrti, Anukarana, literally a "re-telling")
in the context of Yajna, wherein team recitations of dialogue-style and
question-answer riddle hymns were part of the ritual or celebratory dramatic
performance. The Sanskrit verses in chapter 13.2 of Shatapatha Brahmana
(~800–700 BCE), for example, are written in the form of a riddle play between
two actors.
The Vedic sacrifice (yajna) is presented as a kind of drama,
with its actors, its dialogues, its portion to be set to music, its interludes,
and its climaxes.
The root of kirtan is kirt (Sanskrit: कीर्त्). The
root is found in the Samhitas, the Brahmanas and other Vedic literature, as
well as the Vedanga and Sutras literature.
Kirt, according to Monier-Williams contextually means,
"to mention, make mention of, tell, name, call, recite, repeat, relate,
declare, communicate, commemorate, celebrate, praise, glorify".
A Kirtan and a Bhajan are closely related, with both sharing
common aims, subjects, musical themes and being devotional performance arts. A
Bhajan is more free form, can be singular melody that is performed by a single
singer with or without one and more musical instruments. Kirtan, in contrast,
differs in being a more structured team performance, typically with a call and
response musical structure, similar to an intimate conversation or gentle
sharing of ideas, and it includes two or more musical instruments, with roots
in the prosody principles of the Vedic era.
Many Kirtan are structured for more audience participation,
where the singer calls a spiritual chant, a hymn or a devotional theme such as
from Vaishnavism, the audience then responds back by repeating the chant or by
chanting back a reply of their shared beliefs.
Kirtan, sometimes referred to as sankirtana (literally,
"collective performance"), is a call-and-response chanting or musical
conversation, a genre of religious performance arts that developed during India's
bhakti devotional traditions.
Kirtan is locally known as Abhang, Samaj Gayan, Haveli
Sangeet, Vishnupad, Harikatha. The Vaishnava temples and monasteries of
Hinduism in Assam
and northeastern, called Satra, have a large worship hall named kirtan ghar – a
name derived from their being used for congregational singing and performance
arts.
The energy created by the different voices, bodies and minds
all chanting and directing their energy towards the same thing is enough to
make anyone understand why this is true medicine for the soul.
The feeling of chanting with others in a kirtan is certainly
like no other sensation. The energy created by the different voices, bodies and
minds in the room all chanting and directing their energy towards the same
thing is enough to really make anyone understand why this is true medicine for
the soul. Mantra and kirtan are such a wonderful part of the whole of yoga, and
gathering together with others to chant brings a whole new dimension to a
practice that has so much potential beyond the yoga mat.
Maghi Purnina, also known by the
name of Magha Purnima, is known to be a day of the full moon that occurs during
the Hindu calendar month of Magh. This day falls during the Gregorian calendar
month of January or February. During this time period, the auspicious Kumbh
Mela is held every twelve years, and the Magha Mela is held on an annual basis
at the confluence of three rivers or Triveni Sangam all around north India,
such as in cities like Allahabad or
Prayag.
Magha Purnima is an important day
in Hindu calendar. Religious texts describe the glory of holy bath and
austerity observed during Magha month. It is believed that every single day in
month of Magha is special for doing charity work. Magha Purnima, which is
popularly known as Maghi Purnima, is the last and most important day of Magha
Mahina. People perform certain rituals like holy bath, offering alms, donating
cow and Homa at Prayag, the confluence point of the river Ganga,
Yamuna and Saraswati, on Maghi Purnima.
During Magha people take early
morning bath in the Ganga or in the Yamuna throughout
the month. The daily bathing which starts from Paush Purnima ends on Magha
Purnima. It is believed that all charity work done during this time are
fructified easily. Hence people offer charity to needy according to their
capacity. It is also the last day of Kalpawas, the one month austerity camp put
up on the bank of the river Ganga at Prayag.

Vichitravirya had an elder
brother named Chitrāngada, whom his half-brother Bhishma placed on the throne
of the kingdom of the Kurus after Shantanu's death; he was a mighty warrior but
the king of the Gandharvas defeated and killed him at the end of a long battle.
Thereafter, Bhishma consecrated Vichitravirya, who was still a child, to the
kingdom.
When he had reached manhood,
Bhishma married him to Ambika and Ambalika, beautiful daughters of the king of
Kasi Kashya. Vichitravirya loved his wives very much and was adored by them.
But after seven years he fell ill of consumption and could not be healed
despite the efforts of his friends and physicians.
Like his brother Chitrangada, he died
childless. Subsequently, through a Niyoga relationship with his half-brother
sage Vyasa, his wives and a maid gave birth to three children, namely
Dhritarashtra, Pandu and Vidura.
Extremely powerful vichitra veer hanuman mala mantra Sidhhi
In this post i will share the detailed procedure to attain
sidhhi over extremely powerful and intensed vichitra veer hanuman mala
mantra.Vichitra veer is the most fearsome form of panchamukhi hanuman. This
stotra is extremely extremely powerful and very very intense.Usuallly mala
mantras are chanted continuously in a single breath without taking break,it is
said that by chanting in this procedure the sadhak will devolop strong throat
mmuscles and his vocal chords will become very strong.Vichitra veer hanuman
mala mantra is commonly chanted to get rid of their enemies and is used for
attraction purposes, but many do not know that this mantra is a powerful karya
sidhhi mantra and also can be used to destroy most malefic planetary
effects.
This mantra is also used to achieve various sidhhis like vayu gamana
sidhhi means ability to fly in air etc.Now i will provide the complete
procedure to attain mastery over this mantra.
Procedure to attain sidhhi over vichitra veer hanuman mala
mantra:-
Start this sadhana on first tuesday of shukla paksha or any
other auspicious hindu festival day.
One should perform this sadhana during brahma muhurt and he
must use only kush or red velvet aasan.
Keep a big proper chowki in front you of and keep veer
hanuman idol on it.Remember only keep veer hanuman idol on it,veer hanuman
means left facing hanuman carrying mountain.
Take sankalp that you are performing this sadhana to get
sidhhi over mala mantra.
Chant this mantra 1188 times means 11 mala daily using
rudraksha or red chandan rosary for 11 days to get sidhhi over mala mantra.
After mantra sadhana perform ahuti 108 times using guggul.
While chanting viniyoga he should take some rice, water and
some red flowers in his hands and after chanting viniyoga he should offer it to
the ground .Take care that the water, rice and flowers should not be stepped by
anyone or else it will be an insult made to hanuman,so i suggest that one can
offer that to copper plate and later can be thrown to root of tulsi or any
sacred tree or plant.
One can chant kshama prarthana after chanting the mantra to
ask forgiveness of hanuman if any mistake is done while doing sadhana or he can
mentally ask forgiveness of hanuman.
In the place of sarvajanam he should insert the name your
enemy whom you want to eradicate from your life or the person whom you want to
attract.
After gaining sidhhi over this mala mantra all enemies of
sadhak who are harassing him will get destroyed, everyone will be attracted
towards him.The benefits of this mantra are huge,it will cure impossible
diseases, and one can fullfill the most impossible task easily no matter how
tough it is by the grace of this mantra. The sadhak will become fearless,no body
can harm himin any aspects. This mala
mantra can be used for any wish in the world. And i again repeat that this
mantra is very very intense and potent and it is having the power to wipe out
the enemy from the earth,so dont use this mantra to destroy enemy for silly
things or use this mantra to attract women for lustfull purposes else you will
surely face the wrath of hanuman. If one dont want to attain sidhhi over this
mantra they can chant this mantra 111 times daily during brahma muhurt or dusk
to overcome their problems.Even chanting 111 times for one day is enough to get
rid of their enemies and to attract anyone, such is the power of this mala
mantra.I will provide the specific procedure to chant in the future.
Note:-Women cannot perform this sadhana, since this mantra is
atributed to veer form of hanuman and involves the procedure of
karanyasa, anganyasa etc.Through karanyasa and anganyasa hanuman will enter the
sadhak's body,since he is a brahmachari he cannot enter a female body,hence
females must stay away from not only this mantra but from any mantra which is
atrributed to veer form of hanuman.

Dhatu/8 Metals Brass 5 Faced Hanuman Ji/Panch Mukhi Bajrang Bali Idol to
Protect from Shani and All Kind of Negative Energy (8)
Sri Hanumanji is an ardent
devotee of Shri Rama and the embodiment of strength, valor and courage. Lord
Hanuman inspire in us the urge to stand up to our daily challenges and face
life’s hurdles, difficulties, enemies and other negative factors with equal mental
strength and courage.
Sri Panchmukhi Hanuman is one of
the most important upasana deity of our Guru Parampara. Sri Panchamukhi Hanuman
refers to the five faced Hanuman. According to the scriptures, Lord Hanuman
assumed this form to slay Mahiravana, brother of Ravana. Mahiravana was a
sorcerer and an ardent devotee of Goddess Mahamaya. Instigated by Ravana,
Mahiravana took Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana to Paathaala Loka (the
nether-world) and was tempted to sacrifice them to Goddess Mahamaya. To save
the divine brothers, Lord Hanuman had to stub out five lamps burning in
different directions simultaneously. He, therefore, assumed the Panchmukhi form
to win this task. Inspite of rapid strides in technology, there is a growing
insecurity for the average human being, both at emotional and physical levels.

Hanuman is often found in temples
applied with Sindhoor. Sindhoor (Vermillion) is a modified version of saffron
made into a paste. The color morphs into a deep red which symbolizes the
immense strength of Lord Hanuman and is also the color of boldness. The color red
once again signifies the muladhara chakra (the very first chakra in the human
body ) and it is the basis of the survival instinct and deep rooted fear
complexes. Gazing at this deep red relieves some of the fears and hence Lord
Hanuman is painted a deep red colour in temples.
Panchmukhi Hanuman is worshipped
in the context of energy for the following reasons :
To overcome distressing energy :
To overcome problems due to spirits, black magic, ancestors’ subtle bodies,
suffering due to Shani, etc.
To control pleasant energy : If
there is any obstacle in the pathway of the activated kundalini (spiritual
energy) then to overcome it and channelize it appropriately.
A Kavacham is addressed to this
fierce form of Hanuman. It is not a Stotra in the normal sense of the word and
instead it gives large amount of Tantric powers aimed at protection. Some
people believe that this sloka should not be recited but used to worship the
Five Faced Hanumanji.
It is written at the end of the
Panchmukhi stotra that was taught by Rama to Sita as per her request. However,
the first few lines show that this is a version taught by Garuda, where he
mentions that it was created by the Lord of Lords.
